Hi just looking for some advice the bearings collapsed on my rapido confort and damaged the hub and arm on the axle I am trying to get a new one made or find a confort being scrapped to just change the arm or axle over a lot of the trailer companies are saying that because of the vans weight and that it runs on 10" wheels I don't need a braked axle I will be towing it with a VW T25 2lt camper any help or advice greatly appreciated for this weekend I am putting the trailer on a trailer to get to my next show this weekend

There is no legal requirement to have brakes if a trailer weighs less than 750kg . If you do have brakes regardless of weight a breakaway cable must be fitted and working to prevent a runaway trailer careening across motorway lanes or similar should it become detached from your van .

No brakes (under 750kg) needs only a chain (which attaches to the towbar) so you will not lose the trailer even if your hook falls off !

There is a significant price difference between braked and unbraked and i doubt you need them as a quick google search suggest a Rapido weighs less than 500kg .

Hope thats helpful
