How can we stop rainwater pooling on the winter cover of our FC? We've tried an inverted washing up bowl underneath, but this had made the problem worse. Is it acceptable to wind down the jockey wheel and lower the corner steadies a bit at one end to try and get a bit of a slope so the water can run off, or does this interfere with the suspension in the long term? Any bright ideas?
You should raise the jockey wheel so that the unit is nose up and water runs off at the back. By all means lower the steadies, but do not use them as jacks or you may damage the unit.
I use a series of supports under the centre of the cover to create a gable effect which both helps water to run off the top and also improves air circulation under the cover to help avoid condensation forming.
Our neighbour keeps his unit out side all year he places bubble wrap under the cover so it is higher in the middle like a slight dome shape seems to do the trick. My unit I keep in the garage so can only go on his idear, hope this helps you.
iv'e got a trailer tent and we put an extra cover over it, we got a car cover from index at 7.99 and put strechy cables over to keep in place dosn't stop you getting small pools but does stop it marking the proper cover so it looks like new when we go away, In the winter we also put bubble wrap around the trailer and then the cover on top and its been fine.
We use upturned plantpots - large ones in the centre and smaller ones around them creating a slope, which lets the rain run off. We have also used large pieces of polystyrene, - the type that comes in packaging and strategically placed that.
Even though we had done all of this AND had the outer cover on the rain still managed to get through onto the FC Taurpaulin. However, inside was as dry as a bone. We put one of these small condensation crystal trays inside and changed it every 2 months.
