Hi we have just being to look at a folding camper 2002
They wanted £1500 for it as that was the reserve on eBay
When we went to look at it we was really impressed when they showed us it but then it started to rain and when it did dark patches started to appear on the roof and started to drop slightly on a couple
They assured us that they had just sealed it but must have missed a few bits
We did notice before it rained the patches did seem a lighter colour
The question is do we walk away or is it just a sealing problem as there was no rips ?
Thanks for reply they said they had put 4 coats on even though they have used it once?
Which to be makes me think they bought it used it once realised it leaks so resealed it to sell it as they said trailer tents are not for them and going back to caravans
I bought my 2006 Fiesta from eBay about this time last year for £2000. Luckily there were a few on there, and settled on the third one I viewed. Not only did it seem very well looked after, but just as important was that there was nothing at all missing. One I viewed was missing curtains and rods, another missing various things, all quite minor but nice to not have to worry about buying after.
I know none of the above is regarding water proofing, but if you're not sure, walk away, one that feels right will come along.
Water proofing is the worst thing you can possibly do to a camper. I buy and sell them, as a business, and I WILL NOT (under any circumstances) buy a folding camper that has been water proofed. Not worth the hassle, as it destroys the natural water proofing of the canvas, itself. Take it from one in the trade; WALK AWAY.

I keep thinking of selling our Conway Countryman its 2004 I love it so much I just want to buy a newer one in the later black and grey colours its garaged stored and I am the 2nd owner £2000 if you are intrested let me know
------------- its our imperfections that makes us perfect
Absolutely no way buy it, there have clearly been problems with leaks before otherwise why would someone waterproof the canvas with 4 coats after only one outing?
We bought a used Fiesta back in early June from a local dealer, and have recently come back from our first trip to Scotland where we had a lot of rain, the camper stayed dry as a bone inside, it would have been an absolute nightmare if we had had even minor leaks every day, and of course a wet pack up would have meant extensive drying out of everything inside on return as well as the normal airing and drying of the canvas!
The main reason we went to a dealer was because they check everything over before you buy and know what to look for regarding any faults, and we would also have some comeback if something wasn't right or we had any queries or problems.
I am sure that people do get perfectly good bargains on ebay and the like, but the potential for problems and dishonesty from sellers is much higher so in our view not worth it to save a few quid.
The only other way I would have considered buying from anyone other than a dealer is if it was someone who I knew and trusted to be honest about any known faults.
Hope you find what you want, richardandjo2010's offer above sounds interesting!
Jane.

Thanks Jane For your reply we are not going to buy it and am in talks with richarandjo2010 about there country man one thing I liked about the fiesta was the more floor space than the Conway alternative
And living in Lincolnshire there doesn't seem to be any dealers closest is Northampton which doesn't have much in
There seems to be loads round Manchester area but it's 3 hrs away which is a long way with small kids
Ooh, keep us updated how you get on, I like the Countryman layout as well as the Fiesta's and agree with you about it seeming more spacious. With a family that extra fixed sofa in the Countryman may well be a bonus.
I like the fact that the kitchen is at the opposite end from the entrance door so if you're cooking and preparing food, you're away from people going in and out, as you mention small kids, that is going to be a good thing, away from hot water and pans etc....
Hope you get what you're looking for, it will be great to hear that you've found the perfect folding camper for you!
