Hi all, we've recently decided to swap going abroad as often to taking more holidays in the UK, we feel it would be a great experience for our 2 year old daughter to discover the outdoors and explore, rather than watch us, bored lounging round a pool, and the boredom of air travel and airports !
We were all for the Camp-let and were planning to go to camperlands this week, and maybe consider purchasing the Camp-Let basic plus package at £5500 they have on at the minute if we could strike a deal, and we were happy with what We've seen on the Internet and the reviews.
But last night I found the Raclet Quickstop SE and we were both drawn to this, and the amount of equipment you get for £6000 brand new. Prefer the interior of the Raclet, and the SIG on the awning, and also the ease you can just use the main unit for a quick couple of nights away. So we are going to look at them today.
I was just after people experiences of using either of these or if you might have owned both in your time.
I've never owned a tent this size before and the thing that scares me the most is storage, we have a garage so that will be a help, but still petrified about mould even when put away dry.
Sounds to me more like you are, actually, weighing up the pros and cons of a trailer tent (Camp-let) versus a folding camper (Raclet Quickstop). With your budget, you could get a lovely folding camper, and I suspect it would be well worth exploring that particular avenue, before making any firm decisions. I didn't even realise the two were in different categories if I am honest !
We only have a small engined car,1.5 dci focus estate so don't really want to be lugging something too heavy around, and these two seemed to fit the bill. We have been today and were really impressed with the Raclet and the amount you get for your money.
Seems the two dealers closest to me have just about sold out, one had none left, and the other has just one left which they will knock a bit off. They said they expect prices to increase next year as well, and the 2017 models will be on sale at the caravan and motorhome sale in October.
Do you ever actually get any better deals at those shows?
Sorry to be a voice from the dark side, but for £6k you could also get a Caravan. Your budget of £6k give you lots of options. Have fun choosing, look at everything.

We have a (13) Focus 1.6 Tdci estate and they will tow any of the folding campers ie Pennine Pathfinder / Conway Crusader / Trigano 575 or any of the smaller variants.
We are also looking to store in our garage, the pathfinder is 212cm wide by around 478cm long although there are smaller examples like Pennine Sterling.
You'll get a cracking version of any of the above for £5000 and they'll have a fridge / running water / toilet etc.
To be honest I think we are both set on the Raclet, we are going to camperlands tomorrow to look at a few more models. But we really fancy buying new.
If we were to buy a proper folding camper your looking at a 10 year old+ model for that money. And you still have to go have a shower somewhere else, so what's the point.

Errrrrrr.............
There is a vast difference between what you are looking at (either Raclet or Camp-let) and a folding camper such as a Pathfinder.
Yes, if may not have a shower but the internal living space is vast, in our Pathfinder we have seating for 5 adults, full kitchen facilities inc an oven and sink, internal lighting, a freezer (was a fridge but I changed it to a freezer) and a toilet.
The toilet is far more beneficial than a shower.......
We have been camperlands today, and definitely ruled out the camp-let, Too small and not alot of living space.
But we did go in a Pennine Pullman and both really liked it, like people of said that extra but of luxury makes all the difference, no toilet, bit that doesnt bother me, inwas gonna buy one and stick it in a seperate tent anyway.
Still worried about the towing weight, my car can tow it, but i just dont want to be that person going backwards on a hill holding everyone up.
What size engined cars do people tow folding campers with on here, i know towing limits are not based on engine size. But engine power will certinly make a difference.
