We took the camper out for its maiden voyage this weekend, all went well except for one thing.
We arrived on site onto a hard standing pitch, hardcore material type pitch, not being the most competent reverser yet, thought no problem, I'll use the motor mover I never thought I'd use, as it it was hard work pushing it into position. Went to engage the first motor onto the tyre and the handle sheared !
What handles do other people use and are they just standard wheel braces you can buy from screwfix. Tried to use the wheel brace from my car, but it didn't stick out the side enough and was catching on the underside of the camper.
19mm socket required to engage mine. Same size as caravan wheelnut. Should require less effort to engage mover than tighten wheelnuts though. Any suitable wheel brace will do the job.
They weren't that hard to engage, the handle looks cheap and didn't take much to shear ! I will just buy a better quality one, screwfix sell a decent looking one so will buy one next year when the camper comes back out the garage.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
