What do people prefer to put their folding campers on ? Hard Standing or Grass ?

Grass for us........unless you put down a decent carpet in the awning its not so nice walking about on the gravel/stones plus we find less dust gets tramped into the camper on grass........

They pitch well on both but when we had ours we preferred grass

We prefer grass unless it's due to be very very wet.

Hard standing in the UK, but we don't use the awning. In France grass or sand!

Don't have one, yet, but having thought a bit about it I wondered would you put the fc up to the edge of the hard standing so that the awning is on the grass?

The fact that somebody poses the question and the responses just proves the versatility of a FC, providing of course you are not using an awning.
"Real" camping without the inconvenience of pegging out etc!

We have only had the camper out once since buying it late last year, and we stayed on a hard standing pitch, although I could see the benefit in bad weather, with a young daughter it wasn't the best for her to run around and play on with it being broken up brick material !

Our last ( and only our 2nd) of last year was on a hard standing with the awning on the grass. The sight was very quiet and because the Challenger has a rear door, the tow bar was sticking out of the pitch, but the sight owners were ok about it. It does make it difficult to peg the under bed skirts out though. Not an issue for a quick overnight stop

We always went grass ... with rare exceptions.
And nearly always a breathable ground cover, too.

But that was always on the continent ... onlr ever camped 'at home' once.

Grass every time. Have only had one incident where we were pitched at the bottom of the slope and our pitch turned into a mud bath because it rained all weekend.

Our week on the coast last year was on a big hard standing pitch, it was really hard to get the awning pegged out.

I can understand why site owners like the hard standing though!
