Hi there,

We've just bought an old camplet - we've always wanted one but our budget only stretched to a 2000 concord model. We knew that it wasn't going to be pristine but we could do with some help.

On opening it today, we noticed a few small holes. They don't look major but they are around stress points where the poles hold the canvas.

None of them seem massive and given the age of the tent, we're not really worried about the appearance of the repairs.

What is the best way to repair them? Given the age/value of the tent, we don't really want to be sending it off for expensive repairs.

Secondly, we noticed that the flexible hinge cover on the inside of the tent has come adrift on one end. I don't have a photo but it's now not keeping the hinge waterproof at the far end. I can cover it with something but I wondered if anyone had any better suggestions?

Also, I purchased a "side storage bracket" from Camperlands today - it was 5th generation and second-hand but the guy assured me that it would fit - when we've gone to fit it though, the clamp seems to be about 5-7mm too loose.

Is this the more appropriate type?

Apologies for all of the questions - I had planned to side-store the tent down the side of the house - but it's now stuck on our drive as I can't get it on its side and through the gate.

I would get some fabric as near as you can to the colour of the tent canvas, normally the peg bag would be able to be used, and make some patches at least an inch bigger than the hole, then using copydex glue stick the patch in place, this will help as not stiching in place wont put any holes in the rest of the fabric for it to leak

the slack on the bracket, couldn't you use something to pack it with? such as an old bike tyre cut to size

we used a waterproof repair tape designed for canvas simple to use very cheap it stuck well and it never leaked in the time we had it
