After having an accident with our Trigano Olympe trailer tent in May the insurance company have made us an offer. Question is do you accept the first offer they make or hold out for more, we had it insured for 3100 which is what we paid early last year and they have offered 1800 which i feel might be more realistic anyway

If you think it's a realistic offer, then use that as a base line ... and push for 2,000 ... i.e. based on your insurance level, ask for 2,500 and see what they come back with.
