Hello i just wanted to get some advice.
We have a trailer tent but thinking of upgrading to a folding camper but i want to no can i put a normal caravan awning on a camper obviously woth the correct measurements.
a full size caravan awning? nope, you need a channel on the camper to do that, the only folding camper able to is the Conway cardinal, but even then it will only cover the trailer and not the bed pods unless you got a porch one of 3 meters long that could take tall annexes to extend the sides out.
when buying the folding camper it should come with the correct awning for the make and model of camper
A lot of folding campers have an awning made specifically for them. If you buy a camper with one all well and good. If you buy one without you may have difficulty buying one.
We have a Dandy Destiny. The awning is attached to the camper with two zips which start from either end. The zips were fitted by a company who make alterations etc to awnings and tents. I can see no reason why if you select the appropriate size awning the same cannot be done.
Regards Bob
My husband sewed a zip onto the awning we got for our camper years ago. He did it on an ordinary home sewing machine. He was one tooth out. It fitted the cabin perfectly. If you can find the right sized awning you could take off the channel runner on it and fit a zip. My husband said it wasn’t diffficult. Good luck.
