I’ve just bought my first trailer tent for me and my kids, couldn’t afford much so it’s an oldie but hoping to tidy it up, it’s got lovely orange and red inner sleeping tents which to be fair are a little over the top but beggars can’t be choosers when money’s tight! Are they ok to be dyed to freshen them up? Any advice would be fab thanks all
Have you ever dyed anything before? I don’t know your inners’ material, but only cotton will take a good colour, poly cotton will be much paler. You also have to get it into your washing machine on pretty much a boil wash; I don’t know if they’ll scrunch up small enough for a domestic machine.
Maybe just get them to a laundrette where they have big tubs & ask for a wash. That’ll freshen them up. And I’m sure others will have more ideas - pegging them out on the line and using a hose might be enough.
I’d embrace the vintage look… retro is chic these days.
A professional cleaners would more than likely have the facility to dye for you.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

I have washed trailer tent inners in my washing machine many times. They don't have the waterproof flooring that tent inners have so are not much bigger than, for instance, a king size duvet cover. You can get dyes specifically for machine use.
I have never tried to dye anything connected to a tent but as I studied textiles many years ago, I have quite a lot of experience dying fabric in general and my advice would be to think carefully before you try as the end result may be worse than what you are trying to cover up! Home dying sounds easy but unless the fabric you are dying is scrupulously clean and free from any ground in dirt or grease, the end result won’t be great. Also, as has already been said, different fabric compositions take dye differently so unless you know what the fabric is made of, it will be hard to know what you might end up with!

I agree. I've washed TT bedroom inner tents before in a standard machine without any problems. Just do an extra rinse cycle or 2 to make sure there's no detergent residue, which could damage the waterproof properties of the outer canvas when they come into contact.
If you really want to dye them, I'd suggest doing a wash cycle and double rinse cycle first, to ensure the fabric is clean. The inner of an old TT is going to be polycotton or cotton.
Just wash one at a time, obviously.
The roof liner and bench cushion covers can also be washed in a standard machine, on a cool wash. Just don't be tempted to put them in a tumble dryer or they'll shrink! Line dry then iron whilst still a bit damp.
