Hi all,
I’m looking for a little help understanding my rear lights on our folding camper. I recently had some water collect in the light cluster which blew one of the bulbs. However this has happened before and I’ve now put a new bulb in and everything is working ok. I also drilled some small holes in the bottom of the cluster hoping that any further water ingress in the future will drain away.

The question I have is regarding the four bulbs in the cluster. One of the bulbs in each cluster doesn’t work (same bulb in each cluster). I’ve read the owners manual and looked at the wiring explanation. All the lights work both indicators fog lights, brake lights etc so I have no concerns about traveling. However the two lights that don’t work both have orange wires to them and there’s no reference of orange wire in the owners manual which is causing me the confusion. I initially thought they could be reverse lights but after doing a little research I don’t think they have reverse lights anyway.

Sorry for rambling on but any help to understand this will be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully I’ve successfully added a couple of photos which may help a little.

Thank you

You pic shows it might be a reverse lamp fed from the grey plug but you might not have a grey plug on your car.

Thank you navver,
I do have two plugs on the camper a black one and a grey one. I’ve never used the grey one because I only have a single socket on the car. My understanding was the grey one powered the fridge but I’ve never had a double socket to do this. Without being dim if I plugged the grey plug into my single socket what would happen with the lights then ?

Thank you

if you only have a single socket then you wont be able to plug the grey lead in it it is that lead that powers your fridge but also charges your leisure battery and powers your reverse lights

Thank you Marg6,
It makes sense now. I presume it’s not law to have the reverse light working than as it is with a car?

Thank you

You may find the grey plug powers the 12 volt inside the camper when plugged into the car without the engine running. Might be handy for water pump and lights etc.

However, modern cars seem to be paranoid about you running the car battery down so switch everything off such as the car radio after half an hour. This may also cut the power to the camper if you are taking it from the car.
