Hi,
When I bought my camper it came with 2 submersible pumps, one older and one a newer Whale Caravan Water Pump Carver Truma Crystal MK2 Type High Flow EP1622 (not sure how new it is as was only shown the old pump working when I bought the camper). Now the problem I'm having is I can't get the new pump to seal to the camper connection, and leaks badly. And the old pump has a crack in it, so it works but very very low flow. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to sort this out? I have used pliers to try and get the catches to hold in the newer whale pump tighter but still no luck. Thanks.

Usual cause of leaks like that is failed O ring seal (or even absent seal!).

They do go a bit hard with age, they can also get distorted in storage (flat spots, cuts etc.) if been in prolonged contact with something, and not provide a proper seal.

New o rings available from many caravanning outlets.

Lubricate new ring with Olive Oil, or Silicone (NOT Vaseline or petroleum based type oils!), to ease fitting into housing, reduce risk of damage, and improve seal effectiveness.

Other cause, but seems unlikely as old pump OK, is a crack in the housing.

Thanks for your reply, might be worth trying a new o ring I think as looks to be the cheaper option 🙂
