In 1977 my dad used an inheritance to buy a Volvo 244 and a Pennine Alpine Folding Camper with the serial number 00000017, although it later transpired that this was actually the third model of the production line. It was used on regular weekend breaks and a 4 week holiday every summer, and was subsequently replaced first with a Pullman and then with a Pathfinder. Finally with my parents in their late 70s they reluctantly moved to a caravan.

Then in 2014 there was some foot putting down in our family and my wife told me that we needed to upgrade from a frame tent. We put a deposit down on a new pathfinder and had a slight panic when Pennine entered administration for the first time. Fortunately they quickly exited administration and we took delivery of our camper with the serial number 00001 in April.

Our camper has been making memories for us for 10 years. It often attracts admiring glances and we love having all the mod cons in a compact package.

So after over 40 years with a Pennine in the family we are all gutted to hear the news this week about their second administration. They have a great product even if the innovation and marketing has not quite been top notch in recent years. I wish all the staff at Pennine my best and I hope with all my heart that things turn out OK for them. I just want them all to know that they have been a huge part of my life since I was 4 years old and whatever happens in the future our family will never forget our time under canvas.

Totally agree. We spent 15 happy years in our Pathfinders and only changed to a caravan because of back issues.
