Hello all, new here.

I just bought a second, and possibly third hand Esterel pop-up caravan circa 1980's, and despite claims it was dry inside, the outer walls certainly haven't been so lucky, with quite evident wood rot along the bottom.

Now what on Earth do I do? In the last week I've treated a few of the worst examples with rot hardener then some wood filler to block up holes. There was for example a 1cm gap between the floor and the outer wall on one side where the wooden beam had blown and rotted away. Structurally it seems all fine, it's just a few outer elements, namely the absolute bottom of the outer walls where water ingress is present. I read that you can put skirting around to get the drips to not settle on the wood, but not sure where to begin. I was half tempted getting a strip of rubber and nailing/gluing it down around the bottom.

Now the weather has turned, it seems water is just building up around the bottom. Where I've treated it, it feels fine and solid, but where it's previously been fine, I've not protected it, and as a result now feels spongy to the touch and brittle in places.

I plan on getting some lanoguard to spray the underside also in hopes to add some additional protection.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
