We’ve recently bought a second hand Comanche Petit and have just noticed it’s got 10” wheels instead of the factory fitted 8”.
Is there any reason why we shouldn’t stay with 10”or are 8” wheels in some way better?
Cheers for the reply and talking to a friend today revealed a problem with the bigger wheels. “Do the corner legs still reach the ground” he said so we lowered them all the way down on a flat concrete drive and no, they don’t so that’s no good.
We didn’t check but another possible problem is the peg holes in the draft skirt might be too far off the ground too but we haven’t bothered checking that.
We got hold of a pair of good second hand 8” wheels this afternoon and they came with new bolts too which is a bonus because we found the previous owner had somehow forced 10” wheels with a 4” pcd onto 100mm pcd hubs!! This stretched the wheels’ bolt holes and damaged the bolt threads but fortunately hasn’t damaged the hubs… how you wouldn’t notice something wasn’t right when fitting them is beyond me.
