There are at the very least two different hose stems that I'm aware of, and they are incompatible although looking very similar, there are maybe 5 or 6 different brands of fitted BBQ outlet, and I'm not sure if each outlet has it's own unique hose stem, some may be common! Not much help in identifying yours I know, but at least a heads up that you do indeed need to match the hose stem to the particular outlet!
You are correct in thinking that the gas outlet should already be at regulated pressure (from whatever regulator serves your onboard gas cylinder), so you don't need a second one, indeed a second one would almost certainly stop you having a functional gas supply to your BBQ!
Best I can suggest is look for a brand on your BBQ outlet, or take a photo and show it to a GOOD caravan accessory shop, they will probably know which hose stem is required. It's not quite the end of the financial world if you get the wrong one, they are only a few pounds each, but I'm sure you'd rather get the right one first time.
