Hi,

We have a 2006 Conway Crusader that we’ve owned for a few years. Since buying it, we’ve never been able to get the fridge to work or the leisure battery to charge when it’s connected to the car. The reversing light, which is powered from the grey cable, works correctly.

I’ve done some investigating and traced the grey cable to behind the toilet, where it goes into a junction/splitter connector and then to a 12V 30A relay. Initially, I suspected the relay had failed because it wasn’t clicking, so I replaced it with a new one.

I now measure around 14V across the relay coil terminals, and the new relay clicks when the car is first connected and powered. However, the fridge still doesn’t operate, and the leisure battery still isn’t charging. The selector switch inside the camper is definitely set to Car.

I’m not sure where to look next. Are there any inline fuses or hidden fuse holders that could have blown? I’ve checked the main fuse board and can’t find any blown fuses.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil

The fridge should be directly powered from pins 6 and 7 in the 12S plug- 6 being the switched positive from the car and 7 being a separate ground. It's possible that the car was wired to the older standard where pin 7 was unused- dismantle the plug and check. If so, you need to update the wiring on the car side by running a separate ground wire from pin 7 to a good clean earth point on the car body.
