I have jsut replaced my Conway with a unit I can put up and down on my own. I am now the proud owner of a combi camp 2000 that I bought from e-bay.
I can see from the way the mattress is split and folds that I should be able to turn the end of the bed into a seat and have a bar that looks like it should be used to do this (I feel it is a little wide though). The man I bought it from had never used this facility and didnt know what the bar was for.
does anyone know how to turn the end of the bed into a seat please??

HI......... is that bar made of two pieces of steel pipe ?????, in that case, the thing are supposed to rest at the edge of the side panels.
its hard for me to explain, but the upper pipe shall rest at the steel frame of the CC, and the lower one ,shall be under the steel frame. I have had one of them, but never did use it, I have used one from an older CC model, the 500,,if you don't get any other solutions from other readers send me your mail addr. I shall then try to find some photos I have, a model you can make yourself, but I am going on a trip to Halberstadt in former E. Germany to morrow, friday, and will be away 12-14 days.
in the Easy I had it had a brown coloured double bar which when attached became the backrest of the sofa - the bed mattress folds up against it, it was obviously the full width of the trailer and attached at both sides......can't explain it any more sorry...

Henning or anyone..
Any chance of a photo of this steel bar in the correct position?
Our CC has this bit missing, so we were going to make something up to do the job...but obviously we've no idea where its supposed to be fixed.
We initially though of a wooden board, so I'm intrigued by this mention of a steel bar
The bars are two pieces of pipe that have a piece joining the two at a few inches in from each end. The part could be made from plumbers pipe. Each end of the long tubes have a rubber stopper over the ends to prevent damage to the canvas. HTH

Hi,,,,, Rebecca why are you using my color??? it's correct that it can/will damage the canvas, therefore I have never used the one I have , but a older model, there's easy to make yourself, I have told him to send me his mail addr. so I could help the poor man, but no interrest yet.

Um, I don't think you made that offer to me, and I'm fairly sure that a poster with the name of Sue would be female...but what the hey *LOL*
Is there no chance you can post the photo(s) here? My combi camp is pitched at the moment as we are using it as a spare guestroom...and I still cannot picture this tube thing, or how it is supposed to be set up.
Hello all thanks for your input. Irishcamper is right I am female.
Sorry I didn't get in touch Henning but I was away in Sunny Somerset with my 'new' tent. Luckily whilst there my brother figured out how to put the bar across without me pushing it through the canvas which is what I nearly did when I was trying to do it. I definately think men have a better understanding of all things that a fiddly:-)
My combi was really great. Far easier than my Conway to put up, and the bed is huge - proved by my young niece and nephew who jumped in there with me in their sleeping bags!
I was a little scared to tow it at first as it is a lot wider and longer than the Conway but it towed really well.

HI,,,,,,,,,,,,well I drove all the way home from Halberstadt sunday, so I may have been so tired that I didn't notis that it was a SHE, SUE......In the good old rock and roll days, there was also a tune where the girls name was Sue, could it be Sue??? and there are also the witch ,Sue ,at the TV program ,Dollars ,would that be you SUE. Anyway, I took some pics yesterday of my sofa arrangement, and a model you can make yourself, does'nt cost as a big farmhouse.
IIts a trailer tent a concorde. She is a nice tent has a few patches which had been lovingly put on and is completely waterproof (which is more than can said for my combi). The rrailer and cover are in great cond.
I don't feel as proud towing the combi as I did towing my Conway but as my youngest son no longer wants to come camping with me I need a tent I can put up on my own.
I've got an easy combi camp and it lives up to its name. I got it for similar reason to you, that I can put it up on my own. mine is oldish, older than yours, but be proud you're doing it on your own, how many of the caravanners who look on could do the same. they're neat little outfits and although not as snug as some of the posher campers, do the trick and we can do it all ourselves. the old adage that there's always someone to help you isn't always true, I've had people gazing through their caranvan windows to watch me make a pigs ear of putting tents up.
I love camping and had a brilliant holiday at Warren Farm site in Brean Somerset, would recommend it to anyone especially with kids.
went with my brother and young family - which I might add the two kids jumped in my bed with their sleeping bags cos my tent brill. (Their words) Gave my brother and his wife lots of peace and me lots of fun cos we played alphabet games and giggled half the night. I do miss my kids being little.
we went in a mini tent to Normans bay near Eastbourne, like you we had a huge giggle, and it did us both good, came back all relaxed. can't wait to get my combi camp out again, the car I tow it with has broken down so can't tow it out of the garage. hence the little tent.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
