We pick up our new Pennine Stirling next Saturday. We didn't manage to knock the price down but the deal included the awning, side skirts and winter cover. My tow bar gets fitted on Wednesday we have gone for a removable because of the reversing sensors on the Renault Scenic.

Cooking We were wondering if it would get a bit smelly cooking all meals inside the camper especially fried food. Would we be advised to hang onto our camping set to cook in the awning?
Corner steady pads I would imagine we need to buy some but what would you recommend.

well done Mike! I must admit I like the steady pads as they permanently attached although you can just use a piece of wood or tile or something but its more work, is yours a newer one though as the older Aztec I had didn't have the gap in the wind down steady to fit one through but the newer ones seem to, it was a 1995.We always cooked inside with no problems as there is good ventilation and then used a cadac to bbq etc......re insurance I think you get reduced premium if you join the Pennine owners but the best site is conway owners and as they are the same company they have a good few pennine owners on there and you def get reduced insurance plus like I say the support is a lot better via the website...

Provide OH, (or offspring if you have any), with large industrial size fans and instruct to constantly waft aromas out! For OH you can say that this is cheaper than going to a gym for tidy upper arms and pecs/boobs and for ankle biters, you can tell them that it'll help them to grow fit and strong!
Or
Simply wear those all in one chemical and biological warfare suits so you won't notice the smells! It'll cut down on your washing and ironing too

We cook inside but always open the window so its just mesh. Our corner steadies have "big feet" permanently attached they are about £5 a set and well worth it.

We too have plastic feet fitted to corner steadie legs ,saves messing with blocks of wood .Also i need corner steadies to be in contact with ground as i have 2 corner steadie locks which would be useless if they weren`t .Hope you have as much fun with your Stirling as we have with ours .As my partner is a chef the last thing she wants to do is cook when we go away so we try to eat out as much as we can afford and besides the ventilation is excellant so no bad smells ,unless you have a curry the night b4

We have "bit feet" too, well worth the money. Just keep well ventilated while cooking, it will be fine. Hope you have great holidays in your new unit - try Bakers of Cheltenham for your insurance, they came out best for us.
when i was caravaning or using a motorhome we use to cook in the awning not just because of the smell but to keep the tempreture down in the sleeping area, but then thats why we use a tent its cooler at night

We too have the 'big feet' - although we've lost one on disembarking from the ferry at Portsmouth last year.
Re cooking - no probs - just open the window or I use my Tefal astucio for fryuing/grilling and anything else I can think of - if I'm paying for electricity I damn well using it and as much of it as possible! The Tefal comes with a lid, I also have a splatter guard for the frying pan if necessary. We also use the outside socket for i'n awning' cooking.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
