Lisa's comments mean I'll probably miss out on this one . Didn't get a chance to ring Pennine in work today, I've tried a few times this afternoon but can't get a reply, they probably shut up early on a Friday. I'll ring again tomorrow - I realise they will tell me the same as they told Lisa but I'd just like to satisfy my own morbid curiosity lol. I'll post again as soon as I speak to them.
At the price I'm paying I'm prepared to take a chance on the zip and will get it changed if necessary. Sun canopies are rare things and at least it will only be the canvas not the poles I have to post to TVS. My intention is to meet Pennine plodder in the motorway services. If you want us to come up to Strensham? instead and Lisa to come down that would also be fine. Just let me know. My son (23) is not impressed that I am meeting an axe murderer I met in an internet chat room at the motorway services on my own on a Sunday morning!!!
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
There's a part of me that says if it doesn't fit - TVS will match the zip. Any new extension will cost more than the £50 plus sip change - but it's up to you. I don't mind who gets it - I'm certainly not starting an auction.
I have finally managed to sign under my own name at last.
Please do not take these posting the wrong way but we would hate for you to buy something that doesn't fit.
It may be worth you looking at the Pennine link below at the specifications for the pennine units. Something we noted was that the Fiesta height is lower than the other units. Which could cause a problem once the extension is attached.
I know I sound like a right geek about this but we have done our homework on them with regards to secondhand ones.
Don't worry about your posts, I'm really grateful you've warned me that I'm very probably making a mistake .
And if doing your homework makes you a geek then I'm probably a bigger geek than you! I never usually go into anything without turning it inside out and ripping it to bits as it were. As you know, new extensions are pretty expensive and second hand ones are few and far between so when I saw Pennine Plodder was offering hers yesterday I went for it. I couldn't find a lot of info on the specs so just assumed it would be ok as the awning depths were the same. I don't 'do' impulse buys as a rule, this has reminded me why!
I'd like a quick chat with Pennine to see if there are any other options, possibly changing the zips? Doubtful, especially if the Fiesta isn't as high as the other units, but worth a phone call to find out. As soon as I manage to get hold of Pennine I'll come back and let you know where we all stand. Either way, at least the Plodder gets rid of her extension.
Thanks again for your advice, it's much appreciated.
Just noticed the other posts about changing zips, I take it I'm not mad to think about doing it then? And I'd forgotten about TVS, they'd be cheaper than Pennine probably. Just need to check out if the difference in unit height would be a problem then. Hopefully I'll get to speak to someone tomorrow.
No worries SashD. Let me know how you get on with getting the extension and awning to TVS for the alterations and what sort of charges they make as this may end up being an option for us.
Re neelies posting
At last my faith in human nature has been restored, I bet myself that someone would read it like that and post it but I was beginning to lose faith.
Thank you neelie
Hi Taffhead - yes the winter cover is still up for grabs. As for Peneeni - aka penis - she was called that because some Prat of a German read Pennine out like that. If I ruled the world - everyone would be talking with a lithp
We have decided to definately hold out for a 2001 / 2002 extension as, after double checking with Katrina at pennine yeserday who confirmed that the zips on other years would not be compatable, and talking to TVS regarding the logistics of changing the zips ie. getting the awning, awning extension and the two end panels (all of which the zips would have to be changed) to Lancashire and then back again a couple of weeks later once they had been altered, we believe would end up being costly and also too much hassle.
