Like many others I have a very solid but old folding camper - the only thing to show it's age is the very very faded canvas. As there are no holes etc and it is generally in good condition can anyone offer any advice as to any suitable ways to put some colour back into it's life?

Many years ago you used to be able to buy coloured waterproofer. I haven't noticed any recently, but then again I haven't been looking for it. It could be worth making a couple of phone calls to the larger camping accessory shops to ask whether they can still get hold of this stuff.

We used the coloured stuff years ago but searched for it a few years back and couldn't find any.

I'd be interested in something to re-vitalise the colour of mine too!

yes i did!!!! i got on to dylon, the makers of fabric dye and they sent me several large bottles of the fabric paint, which i used a sponge to put on, the hardest part is that to "fix" the dye you have to iron the canvas, when i say hardest it wasnt really it was just that i got so many funny remarks of the neigbours who thought id gone totally of my head when they saw me outside ironing the "tent", so in the end we took the panels off and i did it in the back garden on a paste table. we then got several tins of fabsil and sprayed this on untill i couldnt get anymore on, think it was about 5 layers, then left to dry, this was all replaced back on the frame and then gently soaked with the hosepipe to "weather" the canvas and we never had any problems, think the whole thing for the cardinal cost £120 if that. so definitely worth it against the cost of a new canvas.

shout if you have any problems
