Hi all, never had a TT before, always used a tent. Anyway now is the time to take the plunge as my family have nearly flown and I'll be on my lonesome. Don't want to give up the camping lark so thought about a TT. Bit more comfort and no more sleeping on low ground - but which one is easier to erect (time and effort). I fancy one where you just pull up, unclip and have a brew. Do these types exist?
Have a look at the combi-camp, they are a doddle to put up and you can put the main bit, up on your own.

{As told to me by a friend.} Man's best friend is the dog, but a women's is the bunny Smile and the world smiles with you, we hope!!
Hi to all, aren't FC a bit fiddly. I don't understand how one person could possibly put up four sides on their own. Just thinking about the luxury of all this makes me want to get one NOW!! TT OR FC. Bearing in mind that I haven't towed before, what about storage etc....
Cheers
Hi Wendy I've had two TT's and I think you would find them hard to put up on your own.I've taken one down on my own before but I had to enlist the help from a neighbouring camper to help me lift the TT kitchen onto the TT as my son was too young to help.
I've since bought a FC and it's brilliant.I can put it up on my own and it's so easy.Having gas strutts on the beds makes it easier too. There is also no pegging out if you only use the FC on it's own without the awning.Once the beds are folded out you then pull the canvas down and attach it to the sides and thats it!
The FC is bigger and heavier to tow than the TT,also wider but it is something you do get used to.
As for storage I can't advise on cost as I'm lucky enough that mine will fit in my drive but usually I keep it round my parents in their garden.
The CombiCamps look ideal for one person...plenty of space and you wouldn`t even need an awning. Why on earth would you bother with a big four or six berth FC? With a CombiCamp you just unclip the lid, swing it over and that`s you pitched.
And it`s not big, so easy to tow. Have you got a garage or driveway? Yes? A few security precautions and that`s you sorted.
If you are set on a TT look at the sunncamp 250. Small outfit, but i have to confess if it is similar to the 400SE then if you are erecting it alone it can be a handful.
hiya, we have bought a cardinal folding camper this year to replace our trailer tent and although it is harder to tow as it is so much heavier. We find it brilliant to pack as you can put it up in the driveway and get in and out to pack it easiely. best of all the cardinal has a hard roof and a corner wind up. It is so easy my 2 1/2 year old son likes to wind up and wind down the roof. (With lots of prompting!!)
Go for a Pennine folding camper, no pegging out on the main unit and from arriving on site to set up and beer in hand is a max of 20 minutes (This includes putting food in fridge and putting clothes in the wardrobe).
The kitchen is in the camper so you don't need to always use the awning and with them have sprung mattresses, a kingsize and double bed the comfort is amazing.
If you can go for a 2001 or newer the Pullman and Pathfinder have the gas struts fitted and it's a doddle to put up on your own.
We used to tow the Pullman with a 1.8 Vectra with no problems.
We had a TT and now we have got a FC, FC's alot easier to put up and down, admittidly they are heavier to tow but you can put more in them and can be put up without awning for one night stays. Weve also had conways we think Conways are good. Maddy.x
