I have just got an Eexport-matic. The ply on the floor and side of the fold out part is rotten. Can I get floor and side panels for this model or would I have to make them up from ply and styrofoam.
Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.
The models are obsolete so unless someone has an exportmatic that theyve taken apart to use as a trailer it maybe cheaper to buy another one rather than make some up.
however i would be tempted to try and make panels you can get sheets of the dimpled aluminum from a firm that makes flight cases you would need to surf the internet to find them.
If the panel is too bad to use as a panel why not use the opposite panel as a template and turn it round so you get the right profile.
i should think that the most difficult part would be routing the tongue on the edge.
another solution to this could be to make up the panel without the tongue on it and rebate aluminum in its place
Thank you Poppi (I have sent email) & John for your comments and suggestions. I have now brought another exportmatic very cheep with wheel arch damage, badly repaired with a modifidy washing-up bowl . Water got in when driving in the wet and the floor has gone on the trailer side. I'm just a bit worred about the age diffrence, as the first one I got (R1, now dismemberd) has a window above the sofa and strip lights and the one I have just brought (R2) has'nt got a window and what I can only describe as lights on sticks. I'm hoping it's just the interior that they changed. I'm going to start dismantaling R2 tomorrow and compare roof, walls and floor with R1, take all the good bits and start the rebuild some time next week or the week after, (The beach is like a magnet) I'm also thinking of putting a window in the wardrobe/tolet area, the same as in the kitchen area as I have got one spare. If anyone is still reading and would like to know how things are progressing I will post an update and maybe some pic in a week or two depending on weather.
Sorry maylily they are only desperate to get rid of large spares due to storage problems.Any bits and pieces you are interested in you will have to enquire through the club website www.originalrapido.co.uk
Do you still have any spares from your donor Export-Matic? The one I have just bought has suffered some damage, and been bodged up. Some things I would be looking for: The A-frame box. A threshold floor strip (with skirt guide). Possibly the lower (fixed) door jamb strip. If you have anything available for sale, please let me know. Many thanks, Stressed_Dad
