Hello all out there, pleased to meet you all. I am a first timer with a young family and a new trailer tent, we are looking forward to travelling around a bit with our new found freedom but I have just been informed that there are are some campsites out there that do not allow trailer tents, ie, tent only or carravan only, I'm not sure, but could anyone tell me if this is true? or is there a book or a map that has these places plotted on them so we can plan our trip, especially with the summer hols coming up, I look forward to chatting with you and who knows, if anyone sees a stressed out 30 something on a campsite with two boys and a , dare I say it, nagging wife! then you will probably have met me as well, many thanks Nick and Jan, jannick.
I think that you will find that the trailer tent comes under the heading of tent so anywher that allows tents will probably allow your trailer tent. When we had the folding camper we found that we were a tent when it came to tent sites but we were also allowed on a lot of sites that were caravan only.
hi nick and jan! and welcome to ukcs! its THE place to be! dont know about trailer tents, but those who do will be along soon im sure, just wanted to say HELLO!
I had a trailor tent for years and never came across this problem except once up north which had hard-standings only. My old trailor tent had to have the canvas erected. Not like some of the new ones. It's a good idea, especially July/Aug to phone ahead first. Beats travelling all day to find the site full.
It's a good idea to check out prospective sites as you travel or while your on holiday. I've come across some real gems this way, also some which are to be avoided even although they look great when advertising.
Happy camping.

Hello iannick, when we had a trailer tent we never came across a site which discriminated, only those which did not accept tents would not accept the trailer tent.
In fact, when we had a caravan we found that CC sites would also accept trailer tents, but not tents, hence really the opposite of your worries!
I'm sure you 'll have a great time, don't worry about this as you will probably never encounter it.
I`ve never had a problem with taking the trailer tent, but it helps that I always check the campsite listing first to see what units it will take, and if in doubt, I phone and check.
Watch out that you don`t give you a tarmac hardstanding pitch if you`re asking for EHU as well though...you need to be able to peg out properly.
