We bought one recently out of the scot ads, ask to see it erected if possible with you there so you know how to do it yourself. Check around the seams and zips for any tears and also in the windows. Check the rubbers for pegging it down, make sure the matresses are there for the beds unless you intend to use airbeds. Also ask to see the gas on the cooker working and the electrics also is a must for towing it away. Check the tyres are fine and ask if there is a spare. Some tents are advertised as 6/8 berth but for this you usually need underbeds tents so ask if they are there but these are easily found on the net if you need one. I would personally get one with a kitchen but that is my own preference. Check out the different makes and models on ebay to get an idea of what it is you would want.

I wrote this out for another forum member who was off to look at the same TT that I have, but some of it may be of interest, especially if you`re looking at an older Conway.

I bought my 1st TT at the weekend,

What I checked for-

Signs of mildew on the canvas as it will show if not aired when wet or the cover has leaked

Check the bed boards with no signs water damage

Every thing complete such as poles

What I did not check which I should of-

Does it come with instructions if not see it erected, to see it erected was my plan but when I collected it was raining ;-(

Check that all pole clips and C clips are in good order as I found some were damaged or broken, don’t let this put you off as they are cheap to replace.

Where to buy one from-

I looked in the papers and at TT dealesr but far from cheapest is eBay and even with some pole clip damage I feel I could of not got a better deal else where.

Happy hunting

Gareth
