Hi everybody,

I have done a search on this but just wondered if anyone could tell me the answer to this specific question.  We took our tent out for first time at the week end and had not weathered it.  We put it up on friday and it did not rain till saturday during the night.  It seemed quite heavy but no leaks.  then it rained again sunday morning.  the tent seemed dry about three hours later.  How long would it take for tent to properly dry out as i'm worried we packed it away too soon.  Also would these two rain sessions now mean that the tent is weathered/ waterproofed?

Any advice would be great.

Yes, that`s enough to weather it.One good soaking.

As to packing it up dry...well, you were there and felt it, so if you thought it was dry it should be dry, no? . A sunny morning with a bit of wind will dry a tent out fully in three hours...even overcast with a bit of wind. As long as you checked all the corners of the canvas, the mudskirts etc and didn`t drag canvas around the damp grass then it should be fine.

But if you`re in doubt (and it seems you are) then open it out again and check. You don`t need to erect it all...just open the cabin and let the canvas drop loose.

one soaking is plenty. should have brought it to scotland and it would have had five days of soaking.
