I am looking for some advice. I have been looking for a A frame box for my TT to store additional kit in when travelling such as mini fridges etc. I have looked on eBay and fell over with shock how much these go for (£100+). When I was at my brother in laws at the weekend he had one of those small garden storage boxes (about 5ft by 2ft by 2ft). Has any one adapted one as a storage box and did they work effectively.

hi Stokesee

I too was extremely shocked at the prices and did purchase a garden box from B&Q for 19.99, I strengthened it with an 1" thick plywood base and secured using U bolts.

Total cost was approx £30 + a little of my time on a saturday morning.

Have a look at my gallery for the completed project.

I have towed with her twice now with no problems, couple of things to be aware of is the increased weight on the towing hitch when towing so keep it as light as possible and not overfill with heavy objects and also be careful when fitting something like this as you could find that when you are towing you could hit the corner when turning. Just something to be aware of if making your own

If you require any more details just ask.

Andy

Andy,

Thanks for this, I think I will go down this route. Did you plywood the whole box or just the base?

Cheers,

Gareth

Gareth

Just the base, was going to use 3/4" but seemed a little flimsy so brought a length of 4ft by 3ft x 1" (25mm) think and shaped it too size with a jig saw.

I was thinking of using a narrow strip of ply screwed across the front on the inside as an addiyional support but found I didn't really need it.
