Hi all this is my first time so be gentle with me. Ive just picked up my brand new pathfinder still in wrappers 2006 green from Barrons. Great deal i think £ 9295 with full awning, side skirts,plates [prefered this to the brown 2007] Sue and i have been tenters for a long time and decided to go for a bit of luxury.We can now look at sites for tourers as opposed to camp sites and are thinking of joining the caravan club or the camping and caravan club but dont know which is best? any advice would be great. we live up north and will probably only visit the lakes and dales this year till we get used to the camper

Welcome to the site, you will soon be addicted like the rest of us nutters, you will be amazed at the hints and tips you pick up. We are in the Caravan Club, I must say at lot of sites have hard standing pitches, or stone, so I would say you may somtimes have difficulty pegging down the canvas. I hope somebody comes along soon to give a view on the CCC as they may have softer or indeed grass pitches which may be more suitable for pegging.
Hi Big Al...we also have a new Pathfinder, but one of the 'brown' ones and can't wait to try it out. We have upgraded from a Pullman and are going away at Easter, but we do live down South where hopefully the weather might be a bit drier. We belong to both clubs and find CCC generally to be cheaper and more geared towards tents, tt's and folding campers. At least they seem to know what we are, unlike CC, who think we are a TT. Hardstandings are great for this time of year especially if you don't want to put the awning up, but we always take rock pegs just in case.
Hi, like Sue and Brian we are members of both.We think the cc has the better cl's and most informative magazine but the extra choice of sites makes it worth hanging onto our c&cc membership. Also caravan club do a good deal on green flag recovery
We have been members of the Caravan Club for 3 years now and have found them to be very friendly and helpful. The sites are superb - you know you are guaranteed a set standard, hardstandings are available on most sites and just use rock pegs if you want to put up the awning. There is a good choice of cl's.
I do think, however that it is becoming more expensive to stay on the club sites and there are cheaper to be had on non CC sites. I will keep our membership tho' because it is still good value as mentioned before me, for the good choice of cl's, also a good magazine etc.
Congratulations on getting your new camper! What are you waiting for??? Get yourself gone and just find somewhere to dry it out once you get back!!

Shirley the advantages of a folding camper are they are like a caravan with few of the disadvantges, ie they dont need pegging . Big al9 the problem you might find with the caravan club is they dont understand what a folding camper is , and think of it as a trailer tent, saying that i am a member of the ccc and they have staff that dont know the difference as well , Come the Budget they all will learn quicker me thinks , of the big advantage of tow cars required
And what about joining the PENNINE OWNERS CLUB what with it's dicounted insurance, regular subsidised meets up and down the country and mixing with a great bunch of people you can't go wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!

No offence taken, Hopefully ours will get it's first airing 'in anger' at Easter
Must admit when i first saw the new brown colour scheme , my first thought was yuck , but i have got to admit it is growing on me ,and i quite like it now
We are in both but the C&CC is my favourite. We like the Temporary Holiday Sites in the school holidays. We don't use the proper sites much as they are quite expensive but they are well run. The caravan club sites are fine about folding campers the only thing you will find is you may be unable to use the underbed skirts but the awning will go up just the same as on a caravan. We found our welcome some what less on a caravan club rally and would not bother again.
