hi bob, sorry about the weather i hope you and david are going to bruces again this year?we are away on thr 12th of may for a few days hope its warmer then lol,we`ve just come back from haggerston castle it was ok all hardstandings we will go back again our grand kids loved it lol ,
Fair enough Bob, but they should not be charging for what they are not supplying.
They would appear to be spending lots of money on their Website, advertising facilities that they have spent no money maintaining.
Apart from the EHU points, I have been on Sites on the Western Isles at £4 per night which had better facilities and access to the beach, where as here you cannot even access the beach unless you are a mountain goat and foolhardy to boot.
South Links has the potential to become a good site but from what I see both on the ground and I read between the lines of their website, it is heading towards becoming a Static Van Site.
In the meantime, £8 per night, incuding EHU would be a more apropriate nightly Fee.
I must agree with you mike it was a bit expensive for what we got the toilets were a mess ,no showers think i may have a word before i leave and see what they say will fill in the form they gave us and tell them.
I had words with the management as I left the site but got nowhere. He wasn't interested and made some excuse about tioday being his fist day in over this weekend, despite the fact that he was there when I booked in on Friday.
He was unaware of the fact that the showers were not working, despite the fact that there are 2 large notices in the Gents Toilet saying that they are not working.
Nor did he know anything about there being no lock or handle on the Gents Loo or that there had been no toilet paper all weekend.
Clearly no one had checked these over the entire weekend.
Necessary to say, they was no offer of a refund, so I guess we will not be returning to the South Links Caravan Park at Montrose.
On the up side, it is nice to be back in the warm half of the country. Off to get the sun lounger out furra wee snooze in the garden.
Same here mike got the excuse that there was a gas leak at the boiler in the showers on fri and they couldnt get the part to fix it so they had to turn it off. no offer of a refund or a credit note. will keep my eye on the web site to see what happens. apart from the price for what there was there it was not a bad weekend. anyway thats me been home for a few hours so its time for tea. maybe see you at Bruces Cave if you go
This evening Mrs Lobey asked me whether yon site was CC or C&CC.
As I said, neither Dear. Such a set up would not be allowed to happen on any Club Site.
And there in lies the crunch I suppose. Commercial Sites can charge what they like and supply as little as they think they can get away with, but Club Sites have to maintain a standard, both in price and in the quality of their facilities, that are set down by its members.
So, when you turn up at a Club Site, you know in advance what standard you can expect from both the Staff and the Facilities, on a Commercial Site you have usually paid in advance before you find out how good, or bad, these facilities actually are.
Fortunately few as as bad as South Links Park and long may that continue. £18 a night is the most amount of money I have ever paid for a Pitch and South Links is the second worst Caravan Park I have ever stayed on. It is beaten only by the Touring Site at Camber Sands where anyone entering the Toilet Block would have needed a Gas Suit and Breathing Apparatus.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
