Me and my hubby are VERY new to touring - bought our little caravan 2 weeks ago and had our first outing this weekend to Bainland, Lincolnshire! Absolutely LOVED it (once we'd got over our "nearly divorced" stage of trying to back it onto the pitch and setting the beast up).
I just wanted to say hello - we're in Yorkshire so I hope we're in the right section of "North East". We're in our late 20's/early 30's, have 2 jack russell dogs, brand new to this type of thing and havent a clue what we're doing!
Im definitely looking to learn as much as I can from this forum and certain consider catching up with a "meet" at some stage - as I suspect, at the very least, they're the best place to learn things.
How formal/organised are the meets? Is there an agenda or do they tend to be "come-and-go as you please affairs?
cheers
Patricia

------------- Go easy on me - I've only just got into this camping lark and Im still learning!
Two things, sorry, three things! First I would like to welcome you to UKCS, may you have many happy hours on these forums; two, I guess that a better place to have put your first post would have been in "Outdoor Life and General Chat", but it isn't a problem and I'll ask Webby if he can move us there. The third thing is, UKCS is like the Hotel California, you can check in, but you can never leave! This site is so addictive!
The "North East" bit is really intended for meets, and if you really want to get the most out of UKCS, then you really ought to come along to one, trust me, you'll love it! Especially if you like a little drinkie! If you would like to give meets a whirl in September, there are two I can recommend one in Scarborough and one in Wensleydale, both on the same weekend unfortunately, so you can't do both. I'm not sure about pitch availability at Scarborough, but there's definitely space left at Wensleydale at the moment.
The thing about UKCS meets is that you can join in as much or as little as you wish, nobody will judge you and everyone will make you welcome. There is no agenda, but sometimes they are themed and entertainment is sometimes arranged. It's all very easygoing. The general idea is just to have fun and for many of us that's meeting old friends and new, plus the odd glass of falling-down water as well!
If you do decide you would like to come to Wensleydale, (I shall be there, but I'm not sure that's a recommendation!) or Scarborough, email me on the link below and I'll tell you all you need to know.
a very warm welcome pixieX, hope you have lots of time to spare, cos you'll need it, forget about going to bed early from now one, you won't want to leave the site!! lol
have a look at the meets and see if you fancy trying one and book on following the details.
as terry said, you can join in as much as you want - NO pressure, well apart from the initiation ceremony where you have to drink the "pink" - save details of that as a surprise, but its not nasty stuff.
hope to see you soon on one of our get togethers

I must have mised that one when we went to Hatfield
Welcome Pixi. Have to go along with above statements. we went on our first, and only so far , rally. We were made to feel really welcome and even the kids enjoyed and can't wait to go back for more. May be worth keeping an eye on central meets also as a lot of the time they overlap.
Hi PixieX, we went on our first meet in June and had a ball. We were made very welcome by all, including Hil580, Hi Hil. We enjoyed it so much we have booked another 4, see signature below.
You can take part in as much or as little as you like, there is absolutely no pressure at all. If you like good company and a good laugh, you can't go wrong!
The forums are really good and if you have any questions there's usually someone around who can answer them. But you really cant beat going on a meet so our advice would be to leap in and get one booked, There really is no pressure to get involved but its certainly more fun if you do! Remember we've all braved our first meet at some point.
If you want an idea of what we get up to have a look at the gallery photo's (on second thoughts don't it might put you off ! lol)
bill, can't remember if we did the pink at hatfield (probably did, and thats WHY i can't remember lol) you will definitely have to be initiated at trentfield!
hi tracy, glad to see you've booked on more meets, see you at scarborough
sj - we've all braved the first meets, then had to go on another to make sure it was as good as we remembered!!!!!!!! lol - thats my excuse anyway
can't wait for high bentham, been too long without a meet.
