New to the forum I know but have used this site for ages but now I need a bit of help

Last year, between Christmas and New Year I organised a little get-together in Oxfordshire for a few of my campervan friends as a fairly central meeting point for us all as we are scattered over the country. The site had a small rally field with electric hook-up and was within walking distance of a pub which we had pre-booked for an evening meal. However, the pub was just so incredibly tiny that they really struggled to cater for us (around 35 people) and so this year we would like to do something similar but arrange our own food and cater for ourselves. We have a couple of huge gazebos which we can use for our own shelter and the site we used last year would be perfect except for the gusty wind which rose up the hill. I have been trying to scour through the listings and only found two sites which specifically mentioned rallies welcome and neither of them can accomodate us (one on hard standing which we were told was totally unsuitable).

Can anyone recommend a basic site which would welcome around 20 campervans over the Christmas/New Year period that can supply hook-up and be reasonably sheltered so we don't get blown away? Needs to be roughly central to the country. A large informal-type field would be great.

Many thanks for your time
Jimbo :)

Thanks Bordercaz - that's not too far from me! I was thinking a little more to the west, so a bit more central to the country for this particular get-together, but will certainly make a note of this site for other future events :)

Anyone have any other suggestions? :)

Thanks Nannycatch & Bordercaz for the welcomes :)

I've still got a little time to sort it out. I have a horrible feeling I will have to try and use last year's site again and hope the wind doesn't blow!

If you have a look in the rallies and meets forum for central meets, you can see where UKCS meets have been held in the past. This will give you something to go on at least.

Hi cufcbarside I have now managed to sort a venue (not for New Year's Eve though - too close to the return to work!). As it is we are using the same site as last year and they have a small hall we can hire which will take the stress out of blow-away gazebos.

Thanks for all your helpful replies folks! :)
