Welcome to UKCS - hope you've got broadband 'cos you'll spend a lot of time on this site, it's VERY addictive! Like you, I didn't discover camping till I got to the wrong side of 40, and I've been hooked now for 10 years! Hope you'll have many happy days in your new tent -

The Rosetta site at Peebles has just applied for planning permission to double its size, sounds like it's going to become more commercialised.
Welcome to UKCS. There's a great wee site at Beecraigs Park in West Lothian, quite a few up my way in the east neuk (Sauchope at Crail is particularly nice), and there's Woodlands at Carnoustie.
There's nothing wrong with admitting I am a UKCS addict!
if your really quick in sending me an e-mail you could get yourself on the interested list for the 2008 Annual King Robert the Bruce's rall at cove farm , Kirkpatrick Flemming the rally is held over 10 days starting on August 8th and runs until August 18th came and stay for as long or as short a time as you like.
if your interested please hurry as their are only a few places left. my e-mail is at the bottom of my post.
Also, I know it may be a long way off, but if you can make even a few days at Bruce's (I think the Edinburgh kids go back about the 15th, no?), you'll have a ball. We've been twice now, and it's a regular before our schools go back around the 20th.
Lots of like minded people who love camping, lots of kids for your son to play with, fabulous site with great facilities and great owners. It's a really relaxing meet, a few evening get togethers round the camp fire (no pressure to join in if you don't want to) and great hosts
(How much discount am I on now, Als & Papa )
This is why next year's rally is so close to being fully booked already!
Also, keep an eye on the ideas for 2008 thread, the plan is at least one meet a month next year, so there should be plenty of choice.
my son is nearly 12 but i have 2 stepkids at 15 and 11 theyre all interested in going camping at some point
my stepdaughter wont go though shes a trainee hairdresser and might break a nail!! and she hates bugs, bless her.
thanks for the info about bruces place, is it too late for camping now and when does the season end, thats if there is a season im fairly new only camped for 2 nights at different times so its all new to me
