Hi, Im Kan, 47 From Surrey with two children still at home ages 13 and 5 years and two small dogs. Last June I was Widowed and now am having to think about camping alone with my Children, I am pretty self sufficient and can just about manage to tow my caravan and even get the awning up with the help of the kids, (Although I do have to get friends to help me get the caravan on and off the drive each time lol ) I would like to find others in simlar situations for camping, meet ups Friendship etc, It can be pretty lonely bieng the only adult at times,
Hello Kan and welcome to UKCS. Sorry to hear about your being a widow. I admire you for not giving up with caravanning and looking to how you can meet up with like minded folk on here. I am a solo tent camper and have had so much encourage from folk on here that I know you will receive similar.

I was in the same situation as you 8 years ago (kids 13 & 9 then) and this site kept me sane. Plenty of advice and help when needed. From going on the meets I met some very good friends who I still camp regularly with now. Some single parents and others who camped with their kids and left their partners at home, and also some lovely couples with and without chilren.
Keep an eye on the meeting up threads and I'm sure there will be some you can get to.

Hi, have just found this post, am sorry for your loss - my husband died oct 09' so I find myself solo camping with the children.
Have sold our big vermont xl and got a bell tent which I can put up myself.
Went camping last weekend with some friends but can see as the children go off to play that I will be lonely - would love to have some other single parents to meet up with - will look out for some meets

Hi Kan, I'm not single but find myself camping with just the kids as my OH doesn't like doing weekends etc. If you feel like doing a couple of weekend meets next year, give me a shout on here xxx
