Yay - first camping trip of the year scheduled for this weekend. Returning to the Red Shoot in the new forest - love it!!
Can't wait to try out the Outwell Arkansas 5 again and this year we have a new wardrobe and sofa to test!!
Hope the weather is kind to us as we have to keep our 2 year old son (and Cocker Spaniel) amused for the weekend!! Unfortunately sitting in the pub all weekend (if it's wet) just wouldn't do it for him!
Anyone else scheduled to be at the Red Shoot this weekend?

Oooh - I'd be interested in an update when you get back as son and I are going there for the first time in August.

We like it!! It does work out a little expensive but its a great location (loads of walks straight from the campsite), so no need to use the car much once you've arrived. It's nice and level and spacious, the facilities are excellent and the Red Shoot pub is right next door!!
The other benefit is that is does have a cattle grid on the gate to keep out the Forest ponies etc. We have a dog and he wouldn't be very pleased if any ponies wandered past the tent!!

We wanted to visit there for the bank holiday but would have to had booked 5 nights which is a shame, so we're off to Tom's Field down the road.
Have a lovely time. x

Very clean good shop and nice staff etc, just didn't like the Chelsea tractor brigade that turned up over the 2 weekends we were there.

why? do you have something about 4x4's - is there an inverse snobbery about people with 4x4's not attending campsites? just that i see more and more 4x4's every time i camp...

We got back yesterday and didn't drown!
Set up in the rain on Friday and it didn't stop raining until some time Saturday night. The open log fire in the Red Shoot pub was most pleasant on Saturday afternoon (with a few pints). What are normally small streams in the local area were turned into raging rivers!
The campsite was a bit squidgy underfoot but coped pretty well considering the weather! Amazingly though we came home with a dry tent as the sun came out on Sunday for us!
Booked to go back in August.

Red Shoot isn't anything to write home about, it is a campsite in the back garden of a pub frequented by bikers and very expensive.
