Anyone recommend the best way to clean Ducato headlights? I've had an MOT misting advisory. I've googled it and various solutions came up from using toothpaste to fine sanding, there are also a number of cleaning kits on the market. But do they work?

It's basically degradation of the plastic lens surface, ALL the solutions resort to abrading the surface away to get back to sound plastic, then polishing to a shine.

Word of caution on 'my pal did this' solutions, the plastic is sensitive to damage from many chemicals/solvents, and they can be irreparably damaged on contact, or have damage done that appears over time in the form of microcracking, and that is terminal with no recovery possible!

Best stick to a branded commercial kit.

It of course may be only a shortish term solution and need repeating. Many lenses had a coating that protected them, but once you've abraded and polished, that'll be gone, but if they've dulled already, guess there's not a lot of choice!

I used a Turtle Wax product to clean my headlights and was very impressed with the results. The kit included a treatment to help protect the lenses against future degradation - how effective that is only time will tell.

The alternative may be to get a professional restoration offered by many garages - if i remember correctly, Halfords Garages charge about £30 I think.

Might be worth using something like Greygate Plastic Polish. Military grade stuff for plane cockpit canopies. Also good for getting scratches out of acrylic windows.

Might sound daft but try a little bit of WD40 and a bit of elbow grease on a small section at the edge and see if it works for you.
Used to work for me on motorcycle headlights.
