As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
That is why I am always reluctant to tow when the wind is getting strong and gusty.
In 2019, we were in New Zealand touring in a motorhome. One day, heading toward Mt Cook, it was very gusty and I decided to turn back as it was just not worth the risk. Mind you, there were plenty who continued motoring along at speed. Later, when we called at a service station for a gas refill, I commented to the attendant about it. He confirmed that quite a few do come to grief there every year.
Having experienced very stormy weather in my van when she shook side by side in the wind while I was camping, I would be very reluctant to park at a hill top and other similarly exposed locations!
Don't like driving the van when it is stormy and gusty!

Our MH has rear steadies, we only use them in stormy weather. They’re effective at stopping the rocking; I put the jack / wrench / winding gadget over the driver’s pedals so we don’t drive away with them down, by mistake.
No idea why, but only just seen this post AND the news!
First expectation on the text from the OP was they were driving and in the cab, so protected by steel shell and seat belts - how wrong can you be! To survive, and thankfully the dogs too, the total destruction of the living quarters from toppling down a hill when parked is nothing short of miraculous!
Sadly over the years seen a few caravans that have 'ricocheted' off Armco and ended up in ditches when travelling, so the extent of damage is no surprise. Makes your blood run cold that people, especially children often travel in the back of MH's - no protection at all!
I've certainly sat in my caravan when pitched and wondered at what point does the wind actually blow it over! And been vigilant about weather forecasts when proposing travel, but that's more with a view to induced snaking than being blown clean off the road!
You've got to have respect for extreme weather! Glad they were relatively unscathed.
Been told (by a caravanning Scotsman no less! - one of the wardens of my storage site) 'I really should do the 500', but having looked at it, decided it's definitely NOT for a large caravan, of even a larger MH, maybe a campervan, but that image just says maybe not at all!
So far as I can ascertain the motorhome had been hired and was parked up in a layby at the time this happened. Probably inexperience therefore played a large part.
The hire company said that the vehicle, which was obviously a write off, was worth £60000. Presumably they are insured BUT the hire companies T&C for hiring state the the motorhome must not be "Parked in an unsecure space such as the roadside. Parking in car parks is deemed as secure as is a driveway."
I wonder how that insurance claim turned out and who paid what. A lesson learned by all hopefully.
