We received an email from LV today informing us that they will not be renewing our policy which expires at the end of October, as they no longer provide insurance for motorhomes and Campervans.
I thought we may be exempt as we have a two car policy but no.
They suggest that we use Gallaghers to insure the van, but in the small print there is a £50 fee involved.
So we will have to look elsewhere. What is concerning us if we are asked the question have we been refused insurance, if we say yes which is true we could be penalised, if we say no it's an untruth.
Hi, I wouldn't say you've been refused insurance, just your provider is no longer insuring motorhomes. Had same with daughter's black box on car, Tesco wasn't renewing so just went elsewhere. If it makes you feel better tell prospective insurer who you were with and they'll most likely know the situation and that's why you are moving.
Try Caravanguard - always been happy with them and seem to be always under teh rest when in comes to renewal price.
I had the same problem about 3 years ago whereby my caravan had been insured with Saga for several years. Saga wrote and said that they were no longer offering insurance for touring caravans so had to look elsewhere for insurance. When obtaining a quote I explained the reason for my search as my previous insurance company wasn't offering touring caravan insurance anymore. That's no a lie, that was the truth so all they had to do was to undertake a check up with Saga to confirm the true facts if needed.
If you call an insurance company to enquire about campervan insurance, and they respond with "Sorry, no, we don't offer that", that does not equate to you having been refused.
This is no different, in my opinion.
So I agree with others. This is not you being refused insurance.
Also, try Sterling for a quote. I can't truly recommend them, as I haven't made a claim(!), but they appear to be covering my needs, for a reasonable premium!
I too would not say the OP has been declined insurance for their MH/campervan, unless LV has provided specific reason(s) why they cannot continue to insure the van, which had been insured with them for x number years, with documented evidence to support this claim.
LV's decision to terminate/withdraw this particular insurance product is not the fault of the OP!

Has anyone used N.F.O.P. Travel insurance reason for asking is two years ago my travel ins went from about £500 with Aviva to £850 and was told that next years would be over £1000 for 35 days limit. I quickly opened a Nationwide flex account which cost £18 a month £216 pound a year added cost for illness was another £334 and another £134 to extend one holiday to 56 days away total cost £684 but of course also includes vehicle breakdown cover for any vehicle your in and mobile tablet insurance.
Been recommended this N.O.F.P. insurance European cover for two over 70 below 79 with yearly membership fee total £480 seems there is no medical questions only criteria is that Dr agrees your fit to travel also 60 days allowed each trip.
Trying to find the catch used to be you had to have an occupational pension that doesn't look the case now

I'm inclined to agree with what others have said. YOU personally have not been refused a policy, the company has withdrawn a product. That is quite a different matter.
I have had insurances very kindly tell me that due to certain procedures they would not quote as they didn't want to put me in the position of having been refused insurance but this N.O.F.P. seem very reasonable for my age 72 and the amount of medical problems I have, I see their a not for profit company and certain things carry a £75 excess charge unless GHIC card is presented have had some horrendous quotes last year staysure wanted £1348 for limited trips of 31 days
