Hi.
There's been a motorhome stolen up the road from us and I was wondering (to save me sleeping in it) if it would be ok for me to leave just one light on with the blinds and curtains closed.
Motorhome has solar panels.
How can it be possible to steal a motorhome when they are alarmed and ours has a seperate fob operated immobilized with sensor?
Quick response needed or i'm sleeping in motorhome tonight. Lol.
We have hopefully sold motorhome, but it can't be picked up till after celebrations.
There’s a database of stolen MHs on UKCS, with the stories about how many deterrents & devices were overcome. If someone really wants your MH (ie stolen to order) all the devices you have put on just slow the thieves down a wee bit.
Best bet is to park MH on your drive & park a car in front like a giant bollard. Though even that’s not guaranteed, obviously.
I once had a Mazda Bongo stolen from the front of my house and I never heard a thing even though it went between 9pm and 11pm. Nothing else nearby was touched and I live in a very quiet, relatively low-crime area with no passing traffic. It was obviously stolen to order, and no trace was ever found. It had an alarm and immobiliser on it too, which to me proves that if someone REALLY wants it, they will have it no matter what.

That depends on the light and your leisure battery capacity. It's impossible to make a calculation without those figures.
Some people have those old school filament lights (the automotive type ones) that can use over 20watts. 20 watts at say 12.8vdc will drain a 100ah leisure battery to 50% discharge (the general recommended lowest drain) in just over 30 hours.
Basically, take the wattage of the load, divide that by the battery voltage where 12.8volts isn't a bad average place to start and you will get the current. In this case that's 1.6amps or 1.6amps per hour (1.6Ah) If you have a 100ah battery where 50% is usable (at a push) then 50 ÷ 1.6 is 31.25 hours.
I didn't refer to your solar panels either as it would be night time and you didn't specify what they were either.
What about those cheapo 'torch' type lights you can buy in pound shops? We have some light bulb ones for hanging on the awning or whatever, they might do the trick.
You can get boxes that lock over the pedals and steering locks from Milenco. Or fit a wheel clamp. Its basically making life difficult for the lowlife.
