When I used to caravan on my own always used blue gas bottles. Since I met my partner we use red bottles.
We are now picking up a new motorhome, should we go blue in summer, red in winter or red all the time? TIA
Red is the universal summer/winter gas and I would suggest to stick with it. Personally never noticed any disadvantage in using propane in the summer. The supplies of gas still seem to be restricted in some places so you might find it difficult to get replacements if you are constantly swapping?
Butane (blue) does not burn well at low temperature, based on first hand personal experience before I leant about it the hard way, DOH!
If one plans to camp during the colder months, then propane (orange/red) is the fuel of choice.
The other option is liquid fuel at low temperature.

If contemplating 'winter' use, just go for Red/Propane for all use, no need to complicate life by swapping back and forth between Red/Blue for seasons.
No real advantage in Blue/Butane in summer other than it gives you more choice in terms of refills when supply situation compromises Red/Propane availability.
Of course, you'd have to swap pigtails as well as cylinders, as couplings are different, if you alternate between Red/Blue, make life simple, stick with Red/Propane throughout.
