Hello again.was wondering if any of you guys had changed the water pump on this van.i would like to attempt it myself but any pointers much appreciated.looks like there more than one pump available. Thanks 😊
Agree. You might also be able to free up the blade or whatever it’s called (impeller?).
If it’s anything like the toilet flush pump (and they all seem to be the same, whatever the MH), the ‘named’ brand will cost noticeably more online than the generic ones that look identical & do the same thing (in our experience of flush pumps, not sink tap pumps).
There may be other reasons it’s not working too well - the filter on our previous MH pump blocked up (cleaned it, pump worked) then later split (no longer a sealed system: replaced the filter & pump worked again)
So it’s the engine pump, yes / no?
Or the onboard fresh water pump?
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I think people are thinking of the habitation pump. If it is the engine water pump you should look on you tube, there are a lot of helpful videos. Remember if you search for a peugeot boxer, or fiat ducato they are the same vehicle.
Thanks yes it's the engine water pump.its squeaking a bit at star up tried YouTube for some tips ie location..other parts involved.what do I need to remove going to France at end of month so for peace of mind I would like it repaired here rather than abroad.
Hi sure its not the alternator charging and putting load on the belt after starting which is normal. Thats providing belt drives both water pump and alternator it may not but it is a quite common set up.
Yes the belt drives both pump and alternator. The alternator was fitted last year. Just hoping the water pump is accessible and I don't have to worry about timing chain which was mentioned. Apparently it's a ford transit 2.2 hdi engine in the Citroen relay.
Sounds to me that you've nothing to worry about. That noise on start up is quite normal and I don't think your water pump is faulty. If you still concerned take the belt off and spin water pump Check for roughness in bearing and excess play or water leaks on pump gland.
Thanks Vulcan 7 . Will do. No leaks at pump just a bit of chirping noise is probably the best way to describe it. Our alternator packed in last year on smart motor way at midnight that was scarey. Probably the cause of my worrying about water pump going to he same way.
Yea them smart motorways are not so smart when you have to stop, it really is the last resort stopping on one of them. You'll be fine in France traffic disappears once you leave the Port.
