Hello all. I have a conversion as above. Just put a side window in, with an opening. Have a rooftop opening too. Currently insured with Adrian Flux. It's insured as a van not a campervan. I've seen I would need 1 or 2 side windows, decals and an awning to change the external for a campervan. Thing is, it's a high top so an awning is not really practical and expensive to get and fit. Inside is all converted ok. Would it make a big difference to insurance if I did get an awning and are they absolutely a must for insurance purposes. No wiggle room?
Cheers
They are not required for insurance purposes but when changing with DVLA to Campervan you need to meet their criteria for them to change the V5. Unless the DVLA do this you will have to continue insuring as a van, https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/converting-a-vehicle-into-a-motor-caravan/converting-a-vehicle-into-a-motor-caravan
