HI the figure of eight is a plastic moulding in shape of an 8 at top and bottomof the eight a slot is cut along the lengh, just under your fiamma awning should be a metal C shaped strip running length of van, lenght fig 8 is slid over the c shaped strip using one of slots, your awning beading is slid into the other end of fig 8.
you can buy the fig 8 i think in various lengths hope this helps

Have got j rail on wind out so can have a van-windout-standalone arrangement in theory. Not tested yet! how did it go with the fig of 8?

Hi fig of 8 works fine a bit easier than the pole and clips just been replacing a few bits ready for next outing
