I would have thought a van would be more reliable than a people carrier, simpler and easy/cheaper to repair.

I think the radio and the lights are the only electrics in my Relay!

Everything else should be pretty easy to repair.

If it's your main form of transport as well you just have to plan the time to spend and make sure you can get a job done in that window.

There were only a few times that couldn't use my van during the conversion. One day was going to o'learys to pick up parts but the paint on the rear floor wasn't dry. I had to put everything on the passenger seats for the trip home even with all that empty space behind.

The idea of a conversion has not gone away just been put on hold for a while I'm quite happy to go back to a tent have always loved camping Now that I can afford a decent tent it should be more comfortable

Hi, can vouch for the mazda bongo, great van for 1 (we are a couple and dog and room for us), great runner, had no probs with ours, attracts loads of attention (maybe not as cool as the VW but still gets the attention). Can go for miles.................not unknown for them to have over 180k on the clock. We are off to France in a couple of weeks with ours for 3 weeks.

Should add, that like a lot of people the VW would have been our first choice. After a bit of investigation through we decided you get a lot of van for a fraction of the price with the bongo so went for that. Of course there are pros and cons for any van but with a good regular service etc they should go for ever. Havent regretted it!

The Mrs will love it when its done though. They just don't see the whole picture that's all.

My g/f just couldn't understand it at first when it looked like this

But a few months later when she is relaxing on a campsite or has been taken to Disneyland she loves Homie the adventure wagon.

You need a secret hidaway to work on one!

Er too late went out today to look at tents and bought a Ford Galaxy So I am now winding her up about using it for camping

We got a bit lucky as we only went to find a local people carrier seller and he had just returned with one that fit her requirements So gave it a once over took it for a test drive done a deal on some minor repairs and a PX deal on my Mondeo and she is well happy So happy I might get lucky later
