Love the pictures!!

I know what you mean about N regs, all the Bongos round here are Ns!

Had a long chat with the chap at Wellhouse, so might visit them soon. Apparently their Granvias are group 4 insurance, which is brilliant! Reliability is key for me with my autistic son - so lots to think about.

Trying to sell the caravan at the moment!! Wrong time of year, I suppose, but will save me over-wintering it.

Thanks for the advice

I have just got a P reg pop top. The battery has died on the driveway so hoping to refit a new one tomorrow. I am chargingthe leisure battery and hope to go for our first night away next weekend. Any advice on drive away awnings? There are no fixings but would like something that could have a sleep pod too -the "double bed" does not look big enough for two!!

Hi DizzyHippy.

We've just got the standard UK "van" version of the Granvia (Hiace Powervan), which we have used as our festival-van for 6+ years now and we use a Quechua "Base Seconds" shelter as our "awning".
https://www.decathlon.co.uk/base-seconds-pop-up-camping-shelter-id_8208602.html
Admittedly we don't sleep in ours(we use it for cooking and storage), but they'd be big enough, if kept fairly clear of clobber.
(we did buy an Outdoor Revolution Movelite "square" drive-away awning 10+ years ago when we got our first van (A/S Duetto)but sold it without using it in anger, as it was more faff than putting the tent up! the very "faff" that getting a camper' was meant to get us away from! )

How you attach an awning to the van will depend on how it sits against your van..
Are there any usable fixings/anchor points visible when the roof is up?
If not, maybe just use throw-over straps, routed diagonally around the pop-up?

Thanks Pepe63. We actually have a Quechua base seconds so can see that working - when you are allowed to pitch a second tent. Sometimes at festival you can't. We may decide to get an awning rail fitted - but will start with the Quechua. Cheers
