Going back to the original thread, I agree with the statement that most people do not use their motorhome to its full potential, ours is coming up to two and a half years old and we have done 17K in it already
If you want to just go to a site and sit in it and not explore, then get a caravan.(I can not beleive I am saying that!!)
Most people I find when travelling around Europe say it is their first time, and the vehicle is about 5 years old, why ? The Europeans are not alliens, they will not eat you, its much cheaper abroad also, and you can take your pets so no excuss there.
Ferries are really cheap as well.
We tried to book for the last school half term, but in the UK everywhere was booked solid - no wonder Europeans hardly ever come to the UK camping, they can not get into site- so all we did was book a ferry and over to France for the week. No booking of sites, nothing - just went, fantastic weather was the icing on the cake. Went to Euro-Disney for the week, very cost effective way of doing it.
(I will be doing a post on Disney very shortly - look out for that if your want a low cost trip - I say low cost, in actuall fact you end up spending the same because what you save on the sites you make up for in the wine and spirits on the way back)
Ditto , ours is 18 month old and we,ve done 10,500, last year abroad, this year blighty, next year abroad, like to spread our brass round a bit, will be very interested in your Disney post.
------------- Keep smiling, its later than you think !
Mine wil be one year old on December 12 th. It has only done just over 4000 miles. Some people have to WORK to pay for the MOtorhome to sit on the Drive untill they retire.
------------- A man's wealth is in his heart not his wallet.
If not now, WHEN?
I agree, you need to use your MH. No point having it sitting on the drive or in storage.
The joys of having your own company, we are only limited by the kids school holidays, and then we still take them out. Can't say I don't work weekends but when I do I make sure that I make up for it latter on. Definatly not a slave to work.
Also with taking your MH out on a regular basis, you make sure that the wheels are not getting going square, or any other issues with a vehicle standing long periods.
I no longer work(hooray!) and hubby either finishes earlier on a Friday or takes the day off and we are off!
We have never worried about adding mileage to our Motorhome, that's what is it there for!
I do think some people don't want to add alot of miles for fear of depreciation but whats the point of that?
There is nothing nicer in winter than seeing someone else who has ventured out in their Motorhome in cr*ppy weather, makes me smile and pleased we are not alone
