Oh please, this is lively debate. Cant be doing with posters who cant stand opposing views, even if they are written slightly inflammatory. Adds to the valid 'argument' in my view.
T4 is right to his view re over 30mph speed. Driving a MH IS completely different to lugging. As is pitching.
To those who persist in taking comments 'personally', you're on an anonymous board. The reason for that is to encourage open and lively opinions. If you want 'stroking' and 'view re-inforcement', ring your mother.

I think you will find that on these forums, personal abuse and rudeness is not tolerated.
Webby has removed and locked threads when personal abuse has arisen. By and large, most of us adhere to his wishes.
I think we all appreciate opposing views bertndoris - and no-one is suggesting for one moment that we posters all agree on everything! Let's face it life is not like that is it? We all think and feel differently for oh so many different reasons and that is what helps to make life so enjoyable and so interesting! I personally thank god that life is awash with a myriad of colours and if we did not enjoy such wonderful kaleidoscopes wouldn't the world be dull and boring for us all?
No - I think we all welcome differing views if the truth be known and the last thing we want is total agreement but one thing I believe we should all agree on is to show manners and respect for one and other and I see no reason why anyone needs to post rude, personal or abusive remarks to or about fellow posters? We are all mature adults and surely we can all conduct ourselves in a manner that is decent and for anyone to stoop so low as to name call is in my opinion unwarranted, unecassary, unintelligent and ignorant.
If we cannot make our opinions known without resorting to such rudeness is a poor excuse and as a result such posts should be edited or removed as the moderators see fit!

If you go to the end of the message board ,help and idea's, it tells you in a post how to put pictures up, but you need to register with a site such as photobucket first. Hope this helps.

Just to add my thoughts from both sides of the coin so to speak.
We had a large caravan and loved it, but my Husband hated the towing side of things, we must have been pretty good at the setting up as we didn't find it such a major problem taking ages as some posts refer to on websites such as this BUT you do have to fetch water etc so sometimes in cold/rainy weather that can be a bind.
Last year we decided to change to a motorhome and to be honest we love it, we have just toured Portugal for a month and it is just so easy, gone are many of the restrictions that we had with a caravan, we find ours is just the right size at 23 foot to be comfortable for us, whilst still being able to take it out and about and use it for transport, we do have two electric bikes which we used when popping down to the village in Alvor and found them very useful and enjoyable too.
We find we can be packed up and on the way in minutes, none of this reported packing everything away etc etc all we do is more or less unhook and off we go.
We also find it very economical and takes far less fuel than towing the caravan ever did................would we recommend it YES go for it, would we change back to a caravan now no,
I hope that helps a little with your decision I think with both though you can make it as easy or as hard as you want to, but we love ours.
*Edit to add we also saved over £200 per year on insurance which surprised us (caravan insurance rather than car)

thanks for your advice Have decided to buy swift sundance automatic don't get it till sept can't wait Planning to get a tow bar fitted at back can't be worse than towing a caravan can't wait

Wild-camping is the best way to go (in my personal opinion).
The general consensus is that wild-camping is not strictly legal in England but is usually ignored as long as you do not park overnight where there is a sign saying "No overnight parking" and make an effort to park out of sight of private residences. Of course it goes without saying that to avoid any problems you should also avoid making a mess of your surroundings and keep your noise levels down.
As for Scotland, particularly the Highlands, wild-camping seems to be commonplace and is almost encouraged.
I say, pick your overnight parking place with care & consideration and enjoy!
Nearly forgot to say... congratulations on the new acquisition, I'm sure you'll love every minute you spend in it.
