The absolute eye-opener for me this year has been a single induction hob from Aldi. Our MH has a double gas hob but I have tried lots of things to use outside on EHU and nothing has really worked well (very hard to get a consistent heat for simmering things for instance). Since buying this I use it nearly every day in the kitchen at home, and when we go camping it is light and takes up very little room. At low to moderate temps. it also uses very little current.

I was very impressed with induction hobs that I had used in a friend's house, and bought a couple light industrial use ones (one single and one double) for my pop up kitchen events.

So pleased with them that I decided to get the Thetford 2-burner one designed for the recreation vehicle market for my van.

It costs a lot more than my catering ones due to its design features such as auto-power switching so as not to trip the EHU etc...

And thanks all for your info on windscreen covers, there’s so much to think about, I didn’t even think about these.. I’ll look into the ideas suggested.

Many thanks to everyone who commented and helped me on my post xx
Gill

I have been making a list of all the items I may need that cannot be built into the van, and other considerations, such as (in no particular order):

Levelling chokes and stablisers
Spirit level
Grey water container
Fresh water container (re-using the ones for soda water)
Portable solar panel
Steering wheel clamp
Cleaning agents for water tanks
Suitable loo rolls
Smoke/CO2 alarms
Fire Extinguisher
Rock pegs (got some already)
Claw hammer (got one)
Foam inserts that I can customise for storage of crockery and glasses to minise movement

And the list is still growing!

It is like furnishing a tiny home, great fun!
