Hi bigtoe.
In a few short years from now, I will be at that stage, 3 company pensions to be reeled in, and downsize the big semi, to a flat maybe, so 50k out of the kids inheritance, won't be missed, what they have never had and all that.
I see the VW California as a big car that you can sleep and cook in.
Cruising down the French Autoroute's at 81mph, and zipping through the Peage Tag lane.
Add that to a good 35mpg+ and it all kinda makes sense to me, for long stays I would still use a tent or static.
I see all these motorhomes about, but can't help thinking, how do you go down to the shops in that, and most seem to be tootling up the motorway at 56mph, that's defo not for me, at the end of the day, it's whatever floats your boat, and for me I think that may just be the VW California. it would serveas both holiday fun, and day to day motor.
