We have been members of both clubs for 2 years. The Caravan Club probably have more hard standings which is good for us as we have a large motorhome and we go year-round so don't want to sit on grass in wet weather. They have some good CL sites too (5 vans only), as do the Caravan and Camping Club. Their site book is probably better than the Caravan Club as it has quite a lot of bigger commercial sites in it if that is what you want, whereas the Caravan Club only has CL's and it's own bigger sites which some are for members only. The facilities for both are usually good but we find the Caravan Club bigger sites have the edge as they are always extremely well manicured and clean and tidy.
for us it is worth belonging to both to get the most choice. My thoughts on the 2 clubs are below, but as ever, someone else's views will differ.
Both have consistent standard of sites and facilities, good size pitches and you can normally guarantee a quiet night.
CC pros: lots of hardstandings, large pitch size, quite a lot of sites open all year
cons: sites need advance booking to be sure of getting in (this includes the CLs), club sites can look a bit sterile
CCC pros: Big Sites Book, sites more attractive, over 55 discount, temporary holiday sites
cons: few sites open all year, less hardstandings (although number is increasing all the time)
My reason for being in the ccc is the THS's [temporary holiday sites ] run by local districts the are countrywide during the summer and much cheaper than either clubs sites at any time.
I also belong to Nice peoples club and Retired peoples club because they dont allow kids or visitors unless authorised beforehand and its good sometimes to just have drinking and debauchery without the brats getting in the way.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
