----the fridge is wired so when switched to 12v it is only supplied with power when the engine is actually running--to avoid flat batteries--so your battery is either going flat for some other reason or the fridge relay is faulty--check with a voltmeter--if there is still voltage going to fridge-engine off-you have a fault--
Hi If youre a 12 volt system, you just need a 12 volt jump starter pack, saw one yesterday 20 quid, have a look in Halfords or any motor factors, Cheers Bob, ps very, very, usefull ,pps, its not the size of the engine its the operating voltage, if you got a 24 volt pack it would most probably blow your 12 volt battery up.
The output current of the pack is very important. Large diesel engines require a much higher starting current than petrol engines as they are compression ignition rather than spark ignition, couple with with the glow plug current and you can start to see why the output current of the booster pack is important.

We know its the fridge, thats not the question, we want to know if anyone has bought a jump start, and if so what size, and have they found it useful.
Billy was just trying to point out that the fridge shouldn't be flattening the battery in the first place. If the engine isn't running, 12V to the fridge should automatically switch off. It shouldn't matter if the fridge is switched on or not. If there's no power going to it, it won't flatten your battery.
a jump start capable of 200amp output is needed for a completely flat battery that is going to cost mega€€€€€€€€€€€€ just put a relay in line with the fridge operated via the ignition switch .a commercial jumper box is not only expensive but dammed heavy to jump a 2lt plus diesel
I jump started my camper with jump leads from my motorcycle the bike had a 40 amp Alternator and soon got the battery up to cranking speed
Otherwise i would have used my generator on 12 volt and put 6 amps an hour into it
If you put a jump starter on the battery it will gradually put charge in the battery whatever amperage it is then you can use it to start its a mater of alowing time for the battery to charge
I agree sort the cause out or carry another battery and jump leads far better than those jump starters
